What is workforce planning?
Workforce planning affects a large part of an HR department’s work as it focuses on processing the data, analysis, and other informational factors its employees collate to understand how its workforce can work better. This isn’t just about understanding factors like numbers, demographics, etc, it’s to ensure the right people are employed in the right role.
According to some HR consultants, workforce planning comes in four stages, starting with strategic planning and supply analysis. The process then moves onto demand and gap analysis, which are the most crucial stages as this is when the major challenges/opportunities are identified, before finishing up with solution implementation and progress monitoring.
