What is second-chance hiring?
An increasingly observed concept that is particularly notable in the United States, second-chance hiring is where individuals who have criminal records, and thus are ineligible for many roles, are given a chance at work by a company. While this is often done for altruistic reasons, this system offers a number of advantages for employers too.
For starters, second-chance hiring directly addresses the workforce shortage that currently plagues a number of countries, including the U.S., and second-chancers are often highly motivated to perform well at their jobs. In many ways, this system represents a win-win for all involved, just be sure to run a proper background check on anyone you hire to ensure you fully understand their offending history.
