What is disability leave?
Most countries in Europe and in the Western world have disability rights legislation in place that guarantees the right of disabled people to work in environments that are supportive of them. This often extends to covering employees if they are unable to work due to their disability and thus require a longer leave of absence than would otherwise be accepted by a company.
A disability leave policy is designed to mitigate the disruption caused by such long-term absences by ensuring that the individual taking time off is covered appropriately and offered support if required. This will allow the individual in question to recuperate properly and helps ensure that the company can continue to operate with limited disruption.
