What is medical leave?
Medical leave is associated with a documented illness of the employee as confirmed by a medical professional. In the first case, the employee is obliged to provide a certificate or medical leave stating exactly what illness is confirmed and how long he or she will be absent from work. The company is obliged to pay for the days of absence due to illness in accordance with labor law.
In some cases, companies do not count an employee's sick days if it is due to a non-serious illness or a temporary worsening of the condition, which can improve, for example, within 3 days. Thus, during these 3 days, the employee does not need to provide a medical certificate, and the company pays him/her the full salary. Such a flexible policy is considered to be a bonus policy.
