Absenteeism policy

An absenteeism policy is the set of guidelines a company draws up to deal with staff absences. This is aimed at minimizing the risk of disruption caused by unexplained or unplanned absences, however, some companies may choose to also include planned absences as well. The latter point is usually covered under paid time off policy, however.

Your company’s absenteeism policy should include information on how many working days can be taken off per year and the consequences of being absent. This can range from a written or verbal warning to fines or even dismissal. This will help to minimize the impact of absences.
