Who is key worker?
A key worker is an individual who works in a role that is absolutely crucial to the functioning of a company, organization, etc, and as such must be able to work during a business closure. They may well need to work during irregular hours too, such as night shifts, depending on the specific business’s requirements.
Who or what exactly a key worker is can vary and is defined by the individual company, by a local authority or national government, or both. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, some of the most well-known key workers included nurses and medical staff, supermarket employees, and transport workers.
