What is employee burnout?
HR professionals know all too well how damaging stress can be to their workforce and in severe cases, it can lead to a phenomenon known as employee burnout. This is far beyond the usual pressures that cause stress, it is a severe care of the latter characterized by depersonalization, a complete lack of motivation, disinterest in work, and deteriorating health.
Employee burnout can occur in almost every industry and often depends on an individual's tolerance to adverse circumstances. To prevent it, it's important to take employee engagement and morale seriously, and when burnout occurs, make sure you're able to support your employee, give them time off if required and help them get back into the workforce in a timely manner.
