What is direct reports?
Despite what the name suggests, direct reports is not a form of meeting or check-in but actually refers to a leader’s direct subordinates. That’s because their reports go directly to their superior, which often cover their daily tasks, challenges and roadblocks, interdepartmental relations, and longer-term goals too.
A leader may have one direct report subordinate to them or may have dozens, maybe even hundreds in large corporations. Their task is to mentor and motivate the direct reports they are responsible for to attain the maximum possible performance and in turn boost the overall productivity of their company.
